This is a question that many people have these days as the popularity of street art rises. Some of it looks pretty good and is not a problem. The problem is when vandals use your home as a canvas for graffiti that neither looks good nor is appropriate for the general viewing public. It is bad for the look of your home and it really devalues your property. So, the question is how do you get it off? That will definitely not be an easy task. It will definitely make you wish the perps had been caught or are caught before you have to do it. You can always decide not to press charges in exchange for them getting the graffiti off of your garage door. That’s just a nice thought. It is also probably wishful thinking.
Cleaning Chemicals For Garage Door Graffiti
This is probably your cheapest option. They do actually make graffiti remover. You can also use bleach, paint thinner, and oven cleaner. The problem with all of them? Well for one, you are going to hurt the next day after scrubbing that much. The second issue? You may have to repaint your garage door anyways. If you do not have a plain old steel garage door, you can’t just clean that “street art” off. So, prepare yourself for a long few days of work at getting your garage door clean. Maybe consider putting security cameras up around your garage door.
Time To Paint The Garage Door!
I know, those “street artists” already painted your garage door, but it is time for you to paint over that. Actually, you may want to follow the suggestion before this one, first. Why? Because it takes a lot of white paint to cover up really dark black paint and other deep colors. It will take more work but it will cost less money in the long run. It is up to you. But you might want to clean that garage door off, first. As for the painting itself, make sure you paint the whole garage door at once. Having two different shades of white or your preferred color will not look good. Also, be very sure of the color you’re painting your garage door. If you hate it in a month, you will find yourself painting it again.
Have Some Fun With It
That’s right we are saying it. Graffiti your own garage door. Make sure it is done right by a real artist so that it looks amazing. Whether your thing is mermaids or dragons, paint whatever you like on your garage door. After all, it is your’s and you definitely aren’t vandalizing your own property… Unless what you do just looks that bad that you don’t want to take credit for it. Either way, creativity can counter creativity any day of the week.
