This is a serious question in this day and age. Going green is something many people are doing in many ways. People do it for different reasons; to save money, save the Earth, keeping the water clean or all of the above. Regardless of the reason, it is a good idea and we have a few tips on how to do it. First of all you need to understand how it works and what an eco-friendly garage door is. Otherwise, you might just get ripped off trying to do something doo. That is a terrible thought but it happens to good people all the time. We don’t want that to happen to you!
So what is an eco-friendly garage and how do you make your garage door eco-friendly? First off, being eco-friendly or “green” means that it is energy efficient and is good for the environment. There are no harmful chemicals taining the area around your garage or garage door. There Your garage’s air pressure and temperature should be fairly regulated. No, this doesn’t mean putting A/C in your garage. It might mean putting a heater in it during the winter months, though.
Making Your Garage “Green”
First of all, all your garage openings should be properly sealed when they are closed. This means insulating your garage door and sealing up the seams. Obviously, this should not mean anything to how your garage door works. It should run smoothly, regardless. From there you can move on to sealing up any holes, cracks or crevices. As mentioned before, you do want to prevent your garage from becoming too cold during the winter. It wears down the inner workings of your garage door and weakens seals.
Your garage door should also be made from a good material in the first place. A heavy old steel garage door will be very taxing on your garage door opener. Getting a glass garage door or a garage door made from recycled steel or aluminum is a great idea. Aluminum is very light and more rust resistant. The new glass garage doors are almost bulletproof, though so they are a safe bet as well. Plus, they look great. This may sound simple and some of it is, but make sure that it is done right, the first time. If it is not, you may end up paying a lot more than you need to.
