Lost Your Garage Door Opener Remote? Not The End Of The World

It sure can feel like it, though. It really is not a good feeling to lose anything, much less something so important. Your garage door opener remote is a real luxury that many of us just can’t live without. When you get home after a long day of work, the last thing you want to do is expend more energy than you need to. That is what makes these remotes so great. The problem is when we lose them, which happens often to many of us. The good news is that there are some solutions to this problem. Some may work for you and some may not, but they are worth the try if you haven’t already.

Smartphone Remotes?

One of the best decisions you can make is to upgrade your garage door opener to a new system. What good does this do? Well, aside from giving you a new garage door opener, it updates your technology. You can sync your new garage door opener with your iPhone or Android phone and use it as a remote. Chances are that you are not going to up and lose your phone every other day. To most people, their phones are the most important item they carry with them at all times. It is a gaming device, phone, calculator, emailer, notepad, internet browser and recording device. Our cell phones have come so far over the last few years that using it to open your garage door should be no big surprise.

A Less Technological Solution

If that does not sound like your thing, then a few of these ideas might. A lot of garage door openers can be put on keychains and such. Common sense says that if you lose your car keys… You are staying home regardless of the plans you have. Another thing you want to consider is keeping your garage door opener remote in your car. This will only be a good idea if your car has a specific compartment or slot that it can stay in. Otherwise, it will fall between the seats, fall out of the car, or get fried by the sun on a hot day. Obviously, none of those are good options. When it comes right down to it, the best advice we can give you is to be vigilant. If you are not in the habit of losing your garage door opener remote in the first place, then you won’t.
